The Rufus M. Brown Residence Hall, located in the heart of Ketchum, is truly a home away from home. Dorm life is defined by close connections among residents and between residents and staff, structured study periods, onsite athletic training, and family-style meals. With its comfortable rooms and proximity to training venues, our dorm is truly unique.
Academic classes are offered on our Trail Creek Campus in Sun Valley, situated in a truly idyllic spot, backing up against Dollar Mountain and hugging the banks of Trail Creek in Sun Valley. From the campus quad, the view frames Bald Mountain, and our classroom buildings, theatre, teaching greenhouse, and gymnasium vibrate with the energy, ideas, and enthusiasm of our pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade students.
Dollar Mountain, located just up the hill from Sun Valley Community School's Trail Creek campus in Sun Valley boasts an ever-evolving terrain park filled with challenging and fun boxes, jumps, rollers, and rails, as well as a big air competition venue. Alpine skiers also make use of this backyard venue training venue throughout the winter season.
Bald Mountain has helped secure Sun Valley’s standing as America’s premiere winter destination resort for nearly 80 years. With its consistently steep pitch, variety of terrain, legendary snowmaking and grooming, and gorgeous bluebird days. While most ski racers get to enjoy Baldy only once a season, or even once in a lifetime, SVSA skiers and snowboarders have Baldy at their tips every single day.
Located within Rufus M. Brown Hall, the Julia Argyros Training Center is a fully equipped gym modeled after the USSA Center for Excellence in Park City, Utah. The state-of-the-art 3,200-square-foot space serves the school's Upper School and Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation athletes and offers everything an athlete needs to become strong and fit for their athletic endeavors.
The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Engl Training Center is homebase for the Alpine program, featuring SVSEF’s administrative offices, wax and storage facilities, locker rooms, and several video spaces.
Located at the Dumke Family Sagewillow Campus in Sun Valley, the Air Barn is our indoor anti-gravity training venue. Athletes have access to a dry-slope tow-in ramp to airbag, trampolines equipped with spotting rigs, an additional airbag pit, and a half-pipe.
Located at the Dumke Family Sagewillow Campus in Sun Valley, the Roller Ski Facility, made possible through SVSEF fundraising, includes 1.5 kilometer paved outdoor roller ski loop for off-snow training, as well as an indoor roller ski treadmill (one of only four in the country).
Cross country athletes call the Lake Creek Training Center their home base. Tucked in the woods at the beginning of miles and miles of groomed trails, the Training Center offers everything from a place to change clothes, to a place to wax skis and acts as a headquarters for planning the day’s workout with the program’s dedicated coaches. The Lake Creek Training Center is located a short drive from both Sun Valley Community School's Trail Creek Campus and the Rufus M. Brown Residence Hall. This facility, as well as the area’s over 130km of cross country trails, led to Sun Valley’s designation as the nation’s only U.S. Nordic Olympic Training Site.
SVSEF and the Sun Valley area have been designated by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee as official, designated Olympic alpine, cross country, freestyle, freeskiing, and snowboard training sites. This designation was awarded on the basis of the area’s exceptional facilities and programming. Sun Valley is the only location in the country with five designated training sites.
