Romeo & Juliet: Congrats to the Cast & Crew

Romeo & Juliet: Congrats to the Cast & Crew

Romeo & Juliet Steps into the 21st Century
The Sun Valley Community School players brought an amazing original adaptation of the Shakespeare classic, Romeo & Juliet, to the stage February 21-21. Audiences were treated to a modern-day version of this legendary tale about two star-crossed lovers, where director Kevin Wade turned the tables on tradition and removed the adult presence from the show altogether. “We encountered Capulets and the Montagues as two warring tribes of orphaned, transient children,” explained Kevin. “The purpose of this concept is to bring the heightened text, which can feel distant and intimidating, closer to who these young actors are.” More than 25 Upper School students were involved, both on and off the stage. Contemporary music was also part of the new adaptation, and was arranged and performed by members of the cast. Bravo to the cast and crew and huge thanks to all of our volunteers!
