Music Spotlight: Hunter Diehl '19

On December 15, students across Community School’s three divisions gathered in the gym to participate in the annual Holiday Sing-A-Long. Upper School guitar students participated again this year, offering a rendition of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” Junior Hunter Diehl played in the performance and said, “the song brought holiday spirit to the gathering. It evokes so many childhood memories for me, and it was a fun event.”

For Hunter (far left in photo), the opportunity to perform for the entire school allowed him to showcase his passion for playing guitar, which is also fueling his formation of the guitar club—a new offering this winter term. “I think the club will allow people to try something new and maybe spark a new passion for some. I hope I can teach my peers some new songs, as music can help create a great bond.” Hunter credits Community School with helping to support his love for music and offering opportunities for him to grow in other ways as well: “When I started at Community School as a freshman, I immediately enrolled in the songwriting class to nurture my passion,” he said. “That opportunity and others have provided resources that have allowed me engage in my interests—music, but also academics and skiing.”
