November 8, 2020
We confirmed a case of COVID-19 in our 8th grade population late Friday. Because of existing protocols (cohorts, table spacing, masking, physical distancing, ventilation, the use of outdoor spaces, and cleaning/hygiene practices), we have verified that the potential impact of this case is confined to our 8th grade class. The initial round of contact tracing has been completed, and we have been in touch with those meeting the definition of “exposure.” The confirmed positive case and those indicated as directly exposed are now in quarantine.
Out of an abundance of caution, and to protect the well-being of all our constituents, the 8th Grade will move to our connected-learning model for the next three days, through Wednesday, November 11, 2020. This will allow for additional testing of known exposures and any additional contact tracing. 8th grade families, students will follow their normal schedule remotely.
Based on the information we have now, the programming for 6th and 7th grades, along with the Elementary School, are not directly impacted by this new case. In-person programming will continue for those groups. Should new information emerge necessitating a change, we will communicate as promptly as possible. If you would like to remotely access classes out of caution, please email your division’s administrative assistant and your division head.
For more information on active cases, the contact tracing process, and the definition of “exposure,” please see our COVID-19 Dashboard page on the website.
Thank you again for your understanding and patience as we make decisions with the most up-to-date information available to manage the risks of COVID-19. If you have medical questions, please reach out to our Health Services Coordinator, Anne Marie Gardner. If you have programming questions, please reach out to your division head.
Sincerely,
Ben Pettit, Head of School
PLEASE NOTE:
- If anyone in your household feels ill (even slightly), call (208.309.1427) or email our Health Services Coordinator, Anne Marie Gardner. She is a vital resource for our community and can help you take the necessary steps to protect yourself and others.
-
If ANY member of your household is awaiting a COVID test, please quarantine your entire household until you find out the results of the pending test. This is a very important step in preventing the spread of COVID in our family-based school.
- In accordance with local guidance, we ask all members of our community to curtail any non-essential activities and avoid group gatherings of greater than 10 indoors or 50 outdoors where stay-healthy orders are not being followed or are difficult to implement. Please help us mitigate the spread of COVID-19 within our community both at school and in our greater valley.
- Please continue to fill out the Healthy Roster survey even if you are not attending school in person.
- Be kind. Be supportive. Be empathetic. In other words, be a Cutthroat!
