Last Friday afternoon, long after most Upper School students had left campus, 12 brave souls performed in the Poetry Out Loud contest in the Theatre. They memorized poems and brought them to life with inflection, pace, and tone. They learned about the power of language, and they bravely offered up the thought provoking lyrics, rhymes, and compositions on stage and under the spotlight. All in all, it was a delightful way to spend a Friday afternoon at Community School and another great opportunity for our students to practice their public speaking skills. Congratulations to all of our participants, and especially to Julia Ott, who won the day and advances to the next round of this national competition in Boise!
