About 10 days ago, Whitehead Landscaping began removing a border of asphalt from our parking lot as part of the incredible efforts of our environmental science classes over the last several years to restore the riparian zone around campus.
The riparian restoration project is aimed at restoring Trail Creek, which has been impacted by several building projects on campus over the last several years, to native health. This student-driven initiative is a brilliant example of our environmental stewardship ethics and our love for our natural environment. The students have designed and executed on every aspect of the project, from active plantings and noxious weed interventions, to successful fundraising, to the removal of the pavement. I am very proud of all of the students, parent volunteers, and faculty who continue to make this worthy endeavor a reality for our school.
