The Art Cart!
Middle and Elementary School art teacher, Cara Frost, has been on the move this fall with her cart full of inspiration.
Because the MS students are in cohorts (due to COVID), Cara has turned mobile, utilizing her “art cart” to visit classrooms. Stocked with every art material imaginable (Beads! Colored paper! Glue! Glitter! Colored pencils!) this colorful cart visits all MS classrooms to bring the inspiration and fun. In MS, students are immersed in the Mosaic unit during which they study examples of mosaics and then explore the possibilities of Google Draw while creating digital photo mosaics. But the computer is only one tool or material that students explore in this unit. Cara says, “Middle Schoolers are now elbow-deep in paper, glue, scissors, fabric, beads, gems, and glitter as materials take the form of spherical mosaic ornaments to hang.” More to come after Winter Break.
Cara’s Elementary School students have been working with clay and glaze to create ornaments or holiday gifts. Think tiny cups painted with clouds, winged hearts, stars, and reindeer. And yes, hands covered with clay and paint!
