"Mamma Mia!" Comes to Sun Valley Community School's Stage

ABBA fans rejoice! From November 7-9, the Sun Valley Community School Players will bring the musical beloved around the world, Mamma Mia! to Sun Valley Community School’s stage. More than 30 Upper School students will be working tirelessly both on and behind the stage to bring this ‘ultimate feel-good show’ to life. The production will be directed by Kevin Wade ‘06 and will surely be a hit! Tickets are available online at communityschool.org and are $8/students and $12/adults.

Get ready to head to the Greek islands and fall in love with the characters, the story, and the music that have made Mamma Mia! the ultimate musical that will have audiences singing along to classic hits such as “Dancing Queen,” and “Take a Chance on Me.” For those who may have missed the movie or the show, MTI International explains the synopsis. “ABBA's hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman's search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. The storytelling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship, creating an unforgettable show. Non-stop laughs and explosive dance numbers combine to make Mamma Mia! a guaranteed smash hit. A mother. A daughter. Three possible dads. And a trip down the aisle you'll never forget!”

Says Director Kevin Wade ‘06 (who is also doing scenic design), “I’m thrilled to announce our upcoming production of Mamma Mia! This beloved musical is not just a celebration of ABBA’s timeless hits; it’s a story about love, friendship, and the joy of living life to the fullest.In a world that often feels heavy, Mamma Mia! offers a lighthearted escape, filled with laughter, catchy tunes, and heartwarming moments. It invites our talented students to explore the complexities of relationships through a colorful lens, showcasing their ability to connect with the audience in a profound way.

Ida Belle Gorby will play Sophie, the young woman searching for her birth father while Elyse Duffield plays her mother, Donna. Good friends Ali and Lisa and played by Ingrid Pratt and Sydney Lovering while potential birth fathers include Evan Dittami (Bill), Ben Kashen (Harry), and Hoken Johnston (Sam). Additional cast members include Phoebe Everett Williams, Lizzie Loving, Steven Serva-Gonzales, Aster Pitts, Moxxie Tellez, Bridger McBee, Gertie Pitts, Aila Pettit, Amarah Wesley, Annabel Stangelini, Ava Murphy, Callan Duke, Lexie Lovering, Lidia Kaminer, Mikayla Wesley, Torin Vandenburgh, Riley Sielgel, Addie Featherman, and Hanna Bailey. Students behind the scenes include Reed Fowler, Angus Ramsay, Renata De Luna, Luke Stevenson, Moi Bicas-Dolgen, and Sam Walker.
