BALLROOM DANCING

Fridays, March 2 & 9, 6:00-8:00 p.m. $80/couple
BALLROOM DANCES: Bring a partner, fun is emphasized!
Casual attire.
SMOOTH DANCES: Waltz, Fox Trot and Swing.
Get to the heart of social dances with the classics and then kick up your heels and learn the basics of Western, Jitterbug, and Big Band Swing dance. This session is for everyone that enjoys the flow of partnership.
LATIN DANCES: Samba, Cha Cha and Salsa.
This session will help you learn social dance basics using traditional and popular music. Frame, footwork, “lead-follow” techniques will be learned and applied to the dances from our Southern neighbors.
IM YOUR MAC
with Tom Nash
Wednesdays, Jan. 25-Feb. 29, 6:00-8:00 p.m. $120
From a brief history of Macintosh computers to an overview of the most current software, join Tom Nash for a look under the hood of the Apple Computer. We’ll demystify the hard drive and see how to create and organize files and how to store and retrieve information. Each class will be devoted to at least one new application such as iMovie, iTunes and iPhoto. We’ll also explore the various organization tools such as managing your Dock, using iCal and creating an Address Book. You’ll come out on the other end with a sound and comprehensive understanding of this
amazing machine and it’s capabilities. Laptops provided if you do not have your own.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Tuesdays, Jan. 24-Feb. 28, 5:30-7:30 p.m. $120
For beginners and those with more experience, this digital workshop will take you from the basics of exposure, manipulation of depth of field and shutter speed to the ultimate goal of creating compelling photographs with your digital camera. This workshop will cover all the necessary ingredients for making great photographs – light, depth of field, shutter speed, metering, ISO, lens choice and composition – while guiding participants to strengthen their individual skills. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to control how motion and depth of field affect your photographs and will know how to use your camera in manual mode. The workshop will require each participant to have a digital SLR that can be used in manual mode.
Dev Khalsa aims to inform, inspire and challenge you to make beautiful images in your every day surroundings. This course will be taught at Dev’s studio in
Hailey, in the Main Street Plaza Building, 416 South Main Street.
HERO’S JOURNEY WRITING WORKSHOP

Wednesdays, Jan. 25-Feb. 29, 6:00-8:00 p.m. $120
Share stories in a supportive and creative atmosphere. This memoir writing workshop is based on the Hero’s Journey concept of adventure and renewal espoused by mythologist Joseph Campbell. Writers should come prepared to explore themes each week in class, based on their own personal experience. Works in progress are welcome, but you will also be encouraged to write on topics presented in class.
BEGINNING CHINESE LANGUAGE
with Wei Fen Zhou
Mondays, Jan. 23-Feb. 27, 6:00-8:00 p.m. $120
This course is designed to introduce students to the Chinese phonetic system known as Pinyin and five tones. Students will learn to speak useful words and phrases that associate with the Pinyin and tones and will practice writing Chinese characters and reading some famous Tang Dynasty poems in Pinyin. This course can also help acupuncturists to pronounce pressure points and Chinese herbs correctly. Wei is a Chinese native speaker born in China who graduated with a degree in International Business from the University in Shanghai.
VINIYOGA (therapeutic low back focus)

This series of classes is for anyone who wants to heal from back discomfort, suffering with degenerative disc, arthritis, sciatica or poor posture. Learn to stretch and strengthen the spine in a safe manner. Emphasis is on the breath through simple and repetitive movements, careful sequencing and the use of yoga as a therapeutic approach to healing. All levels welcome.
REQUIRED PROPS: 1-yoga mat, 1-strap, 1-blanket (*if you need to purchase a prop, contact Katherine at 720-5824 at least 1 week prior to class).
STARTING AND SUSTAINING A DAILY MEDITATION PRACTICE

In this class we will learn about the practice of meditation. This class is experiential and dispersed with talks about the 4 Noble Truths, Impermanence, Cause and Effect (Karma), and other subjects relevant to the Buddhist path. We will explore how to begin the practice of meditation and how to keep the practice fresh, without getting too serious or judgmental about the process.
