The Community School Middle School is dedicated to promoting academic excellence within a nurturing environment that encourages responsibility.
Recognizing that Middle School students have a wide range of unique characteristics and needs, we acknowledge that their growth is dependent on experiences that provide for emotional, social, physical and intellectual well-being. These experiences will allow them to develop a sense of self as well as a sense of belonging to their community.
The well-rounded, broad based curriculum is designed to be developmentally appropriate and aims to promote respect, growth, responsibility and self-awareness.
Our interdisciplinary approach encourages active learning, open and supportive student/teacher relationships, cooperative learning, and problem solving.
Interactions with Middle School learners will be characterized by respect, compassion and flexibility. We strive to help students learn to make choices and to understand the consequences of their actions. Foreign language, community service, music, the arts, outdoor experiences and athletics are integral to a curriculum which is designed to foster responsibility and commitment to a lifetime of learning.
