Dance

Elementary School

The Elementary School dance program is based on creative movement and promotes individual expression, imagination and cooperation with the group. Younger students work with themes such as seasons and holidays, while older students experience choreography using the principles of Laban: Space, Shape, Effort and Time. As students explore the power of moving, they find new ways to express themselves and interact with classmates in a positive and joyful environment. Dance is an important part of all of the Elementary School productions and students are featured in unique and creative dances which add a special element to all performances.

Middle School and Upper School
In the Middle and Upper School, there is no formal dance program. However, dance choreography is incorporated into the theatrical productions for both divisions. Students interested in dance are encouraged to pursue that interest with outside dance companies in the Wood River Valley. They are given sports credit for this activity as recognition of their pursuit and commitment.
