Meet the ECC Staff

Janet Salvoni (right), Early Childhood Coordinator, has taught at The Community School for the last seven years. Janet has taught a variety of grade levels, as well as served as the faculty representative to the Board of Directors. Before moving to the Wood River Valley, Janet was a teacher for more than eight years in Massachusetts. Janet holds a Masters of Education degree from Cambridge College, and a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Massachusetts. Outside of school, Janet is an avid hockey player, and before switching to hockey, competed in figure skating at the national level. Janet also loves to ski and spend time with her family, sons Tyler (5) and Cooper (2)  and husband Frank. Janet is extremely excited about the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, and she has studied Reggio at the Loris Malaguzzi Center for Internaional Studies in Italy, at workshops at Reggio-inspired schools in Indiana and Colorado, and at the National Reggio conference.

Lisa Dirksmeier
(left), ECC teacher, joins The Community School from the SteppingStone preschool in Ketchum. She has more than a decade of experience working and playing with young children, nurturing both their minds and hearts. She is excited and eager to implement the Reggio Emilia Approach as she has a passion for capturing the joy and wonder of early childhood discovery. She is committed to supporting the creative capacity of children and ensuring positive, authentic relationships with each of her students. She graduated from Boston College, and before working at SteppingStone owned and operated her own preschool. She and her husband Brian have twin boys, Huck and Ridge, in the first grade. As a family, they enjoy many recreational activities together, especially weekend trips to Redfish Lake with their pop-up camper and red canoe in tow.
