UPPER SCHOOL SPORTS
Community School's Upper School teams compete in the IHSSA's 1A Division (for schools with less than 99 high school students), District IV, in the Northside Conference. In both boys' and girls' soccer, the Cutthroats compete in the 3A Division.
FallSoccer (Boys' and Girls')
Soccer has been at the heart of Community School's athletics program since its founding. Both the boys' and girls' teams compete at the varsity level. Both teams play a 12-game league schedule, followed by possible District and State Tournaments. Both teams are open to US students at every grade level, and over the years there have been enough participants to have a boys JV team as well. The boys are coached by Richard Whitelaw, assisted by Hannes Thum and Bob Brock; the girls are coached by Kelly Feldman, assisted by Erika Connelly.
Girls' Volleyball
The Upper School girls' volleyball team competes from September through November, and can qualify for District, Regional, and State Tournaments. The team is open to Upper School students at each grade level, and underclassmen receive significant playing time. The team is coached by Kristyn Rutland, assisted by Erika Hanson.
Cross-country running (Boys' and Girls')
The cross-country running team calls Community School's Sagewillow campus their home course -- one of the most challenging cross-country tracks in Idaho. The team is open to athletes from all US grade levels, and provides excellent off-season conditioning for winter athletes (particulary cross-country skiers). The team is coached by Rick Kapala, and has recently sent several runners (both boys and girls) to the State Championship meet.

Basketball (Boys' and Girls')
The Boys' and girls' US basketball teams compete in the Northside Division, playing teams such as Dietrich, Murtaugh, Richfield, and Camas. The teams are open to all Upper School students, and underclassmen are encouraged to participate to help sustain the teams for future seasons. The coaching focus is on fundamental skills of the game, both offensive and defensive, along with an emphasis on fair play, positive attitude, and effort. The boys are coached by Erik Olson and Willy Felton, and the girls are coached by Ericka Connelly and Amanda DeHaas.

Tennis (Boys' and Girls')
The boys' and girls' tennis teams have a long history of success. In 2011 we won State Championships and in both 2009 and 2010, the boys' team won the division 3A state championship. The girls' team was second in the state (at 3A) in 2009, and were the District champions in 2010. Upper School students at all grade levels are encouraged to participate and underclassmen can earn top spots on the roster. The team is coached by Chris Gripkey and Jenny Kroncke.
