COI/COMMUNITY SCHOOL LECTURE SERIES CONTINUES IN JANUARY
The College of Idaho/Community School Lecture Series continues on Thursday, January 13 at 6:30 p.m. with Dr. Rob Dayley speaking on "Beyond the Dalai Lama: Buddhist Economics and Asian Politics." Westerners tend to uncritically support the Dalai Lama's call for "cultural autonomy" in Tibet. However, what happens if the Dalai Lama gets what he wants? This lecture looks at actual attempts of applying Buddhist ethics in economic and political life. Featured Asian countries include China, Thailand, Burma, and Bhutan. Lecture includes reports from Professor Dayley's field experiences with Buddhist communities in Asia. All events in the COI/Community School Lecture Series are free of charge and open to the public. January's lecture will take place in the Community School Theater.
