Part-Time Elementary Music Teacher

Community School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Part-Time Elementary Music Teacher who can help bring out the musician in every student. This position (0.6 FTE) begins August 2017. Additional duties will include facilitating various musical productions during the year. The successful candidate must have a love for teaching elementary children and demonstrate a willing and flexible approach to education.

The elementary and middle school programs build the foundation upon which students can participate in the school’s Creative Arts Academy (CAA). The CAA serves students in grades 9-12, providing opportunities for students to dive deeply into one or more of three creative arts strands: musical arts, fine arts, or theatrical arts.

Candidates should understand and embrace the unique Community School culture of a small independent school in a mountain resort town. He/she will be an experienced educator, with at least a bachelor’s degree, with a deep understanding of the developmental breadth found in elementary school students (ages 2-11 years), have a healthy sense of humor, be flexible in his/her approach, and find joy in this work. He/she should be an organized and creative individual who motivates and inspires students to achieve their personal best, works collaboratively with faculty, and communicates clearly with parents. High Performance Specialist
Community School in Sun Valley, Idaho, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic High Performance Specialist to join the school’s staff for the 2017-18 school year. This is a full-time position with benefits beginning July/August 2017.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing all aspects of running the Ketchum Campus Athletes’ Training Center.
  • Coordinating strength and conditioning & sport science services to athletes participating in a wide variety of Sun Valley Ski Education and Community School sports.
  • Designing, implementing, and monitoring all aspects of the yearly-periodized plans for athletic development, movement, strength, and power. 
  • Periodic travel supporting teams at camps and/or competitions as well as to USSA Center of Excellence in Park City, Utah is required. 
  • Great leadership qualities are a must. 
  • This position works primarily from the Ketchum Campus. Normal work hours to be determined. Frequent weekend, early morning or evening work may be required to deliver strength and conditioning & sport science services. 

  • Qualifications
    The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner with Community School and Sun Valle Ski Education Foundation staff, coaches, student-athletes, and parents. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in a sport science-related discipline and/or other professional qualifications or certifications related to elite athlete conditioning. Specific ski & snowboard knowledge would be a significant advantage. This position is paid a salary commensurate with experience.
