Director of College Counseling

Community School seeks a Director of College Counseling to oversee our college placement program, beginning the 2012-2013 school year. The school, which graduates 28-32 seniors each year, places students at excellent colleges nationwide.

The Director must maintain close relationships with students, parents, faculty and colleges. Additionally, the Director should be current with college admissions trends and challenges, provide highly professional programs and support for students, and emphasize the unique strengths and culture of Community School and its students to colleges. Finally, the Director must be an excellent writer and communicator, as well as effective in reaching out to colleges. It is expected that the Director will be immersed in the school community and take on collateral duties, as needed.

Director of Development

Community School seeks a Director of Development to oversee our fundraising and marketing programs, beginning July 1, 2012. The school enrolls 325 day students, preK-12, and has recently initiated a boarding program for Upper School students. The school aims to significantly increase financial support in the coming years, including raising funds to implement a new campus master plan.

The Director will lead the reorganization of the Development Office and related programs to strengthen annual giving, capital fundraising, and endowment growth. The Director must have the interpersonal skills, fundraising knowledge and experience necessary to fulfill this mission. The Director of Development reports to the Head of School, while working closely with the Board of Directors and other constituencies.

Middle School Language Arts and Humanities Teacher

The Community School in Sun Valley, Idaho, is seeking a dynamic middle school language arts and humanities teacher beginning in mid-March and continuing through the end of the 2012 school year to cover for a teacher who will be out for maternity leave. Additional duties will include serving as an advisor, participating in the school’s extensive outdoor program, and engaging in additional middle school extracurricular activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability and desire to work within a teamed, themed, and integrated program, which also incorporates 21st century fluencies blended with fundamental skills. Above all, the successful candidate must have a love of middle school children and demonstrate a willing and flexible approach to education. The terms of this position conclude June 1, 2012.
